Hyderabad, Feb 10 (UNI) Union Law and IT Minister Ravi Shankar Prasad has found fault with AICC President Rahul Gandhi’s language against Prime Minister Narendra Modi on Rafale issue.
Talking to newsmen here on Sunday, Mr Prasad who is here to participate in a meeting with the CEO of IT sector as part of nation-wide programme ‘Bharat ke Mann ki Baat, Modi ke Saath’, said that several cases had been reported against his father, the then Prime Minister Rajiv Gandhi on Bofors deal.
What about the corruption of his grand mother Indira Gandhi. “We never used such kind of language he (Mr Rahul) used against Mr Modi. It is shame and irresponsible”, the Minister said.
He said “since 1985 Indian Air Force had not been given fighter aircrafts as there is a demand since many years. The then Vajpayee government had initiated the process in 2001 but it was not fulfilled even after 10 years as we lost the power. The Rafale deal was finalized after coming to power by the Modi government, Mr Prasad said.
As per the Army Defence Purchase Manual, the Head of the government will purchase directly. Therefore it is decided to purchase 36 Rafale Aircrafts. The Rafale price is 9 per cent cheaper as compared to UPA's price ”, Mr Prasad said.
The Supreme Court also endorsed that there was no commercial interest in the deal. “Who is the India’s partner will be decided by the Rafale Company and not Government of India”, he said.
He asked Mr Gandhi not to play with the security of India.
