Ratna bhandar key of Jagannath temple is missing, Temple administration clueless

Puri, Apr 7 (UNI) The key of “Ratna bhandar” (Inner treasury ) of the Sri Jagannath temple is yet to be traced despite all out efforts of the temple and the district administration.
The mystery behind not opening of the closed room of the Ratna bhandar now unfurled following district magistrate statement on the missing of Key. It seems everybody is clueless as to what happened to the key.
As per the Sri Jagannath Temple Act, the key should be kept in the state government treasury. It’s a single key while the two treasury rooms used regularly had three keys.
While one key is kept with the temple treasurer the other one found with the Puri king and the third one kept with the temple administration. These keys are used to open the two rooms of the treasury while the third room of the Ratna bhandar has a single key.
After returning from the inspection of the temple treasury on April 4 last the district magistrate had asked the government treasury officer to find out the key and found that key was not handed over to the treasury in 1985 when the Ratna bhandar was opened.
Old records in the temple were being searched to trace the location of the key. The preliminary visual inspection of the interior of the Ratna bhandar rooms from outside window by a 17 member team observed that there were cracks and dampness in the wall indicating seepage of rain water into the Ratna bhandar.
The final inspection report would be presented within a month. It is expected that team would suggest for the repairs of the Ratna bhandar and for which the key is required to open the door.
