Srinagar, May 22 (UNI) Asserting that Ramzan "ceasefire" has been successful so far, Director General of Police (DGP) SP Vaid said the situation, especially in south Kashmir, has eased and is serving as Confidence Building Measure (CBM) for families, who want their boys to return home.
'The Ramzan ceasefire has been successful, thus far. The initiative of Prime Minister Narendra Modi has helped in general improvement in law and order. The situation, especially in south Kashmir, has eased and is serving as a Confidence Building Measure for families, who want their boys to return back home,' Dr Vaid posted on micro-blogging site Twitter.
The Centre, on May 16, agreed to the proposal for unilateral "ceasefire" by an all-party meeting, led by Jammu and Kashmir Chief Minister Mebhooba Mufti, during the holy month of Ramzan. The decision was widely welcomed by political parties and civil society in the state, though separatists and militant outfits rejected it.
