Chandigarh, Sep 22 (UNI) Title aspirant and fifth seed Ramkumar Ramanathan hit road block in the €46,600 Murray Trophy Challenger Tennis Tournament in Glasgow (Great Britain) on Saturday as he lost singles and doubles semi-finals.
In the singles semi-final, after losing the first set, Ramanathan, ranked 176th, strongly hit back by winning the second set by dropping just one game. After splitting the first two sets, his rival in singles 16th seeded Alexandre Muller (France) maintained pressure and wrapped up the match by winning the third and deciding set. Muller won 7-5, 1-6, 6-4.
In a contrasting style, fourth seed Emil Ruusuvuori (Finland) easily disposed of the challenge of 17th seed Jurij Rodionov (Austria) 6-1, 6-3. The semi-finalists earned € 2160 and 29 ATP points each.
Ramkumar Ramanathan, pairing with Marek Gengel (Czech Republic) lost to top seeds Jamie Murrary (Great Britain) and John-Patrick Smit (Australia) by 6-2, 6-3 in the doubles semi-final. In the doubles second semi-finals, Ruben Bemelmans (Bel)/Daniel Masur (Germany) prevailed over Nathalien Lammons (USA)/Antonio Sancic (Croatia) 6-4, 4-6, 11-9.
The semi-finals were entitled to a cash prize of € 930 and 17 ATP points.
