Ram Vilas Paswan to file nomination for Rajya Sabha by-election tomorrow

Patna, Jun 20 (UNI) Lok Janshakti Party (LJP) chief and union minister Ram Vilas Paswan will file his nomination paper for a by-election to the sole seat of Rajya Sabha in Bihar tomorrow.

Mr Paswan will file his nomination papers before state assembly secretary cum returning officer at 1 P.M. tomorrow.

Bihar Chief Minister and JD (U) president Nitish Kumar, deputy chief minister Sushil Kumar Modi and other senior NDA leaders would be present on the occasion.



The by-election to Rajya Sabha in Bihar was necessitated after the seat fell vacant following election of union law minister and senior BJP leader Ravi Shankar Prasad to Lok Sabha from Patna Sahib.



The last date for filing nomination papers for a by-election to Rajya Sabha is June 25 while the scrutiny of papers would be done on June 26. The last date for withdrawal of nomination paper is June 28.



It is expected that Mr Paswan would be elected to the upper house of the Parliament from Bihar unopposed.

Votes would be cast for filling up the sole seat of Rajya Sabha in Bihar only when somebody else files nomination paper for the seat.

The date for voting has been fixed on July 5 till 4 P.M.
