Chennai, Nov 16 (UNI) Hours after the Cyclonic Storm 'Gaja' crossed
Tamil Nadu coast, Union Home Minister Rajnath Singh spoke to Chief
Minister Edappadi K. Palaniswami regarding the situation in the cyclone
affected areas of the State and promised all possible assistance from
the Centre.
Mr Rajnath tweeted "assured all possible assistance from the Centre
in mitigating the situation arising due to cyclone.'
'Asked the HS to monitor the situation and provide all help to the state
admin," he added.
Meanwhile, an official release here said Mr Palaniswami explained in
detail to Mr Rajnath Singh about the steps taken by the Government
during the Cyclone, the damages caused by it in several districts and
the relief measures being taken on a war footing.
He also informed Mr Rajanth that the state government had taken
all precautionary measures and has housed 82,000 people in 471
relief camps, where they have been provided food clothes and
medicines.
The release said the state government would send a detailed report
to the Centre on the extent of damages caused by the Cyclone, which
has wrought havoc in Nagapattinam, Cuddalore, Ramanathpuram,
Thanjavur, Tiruvarur and Pudukkottai districts.
