Rajnath directs Delhi Police for action in thrashing of young girl case

New Delhi, Sep 14 (UNI) Taking note of an incident of thrashing a young girl by a man in Delhi, Home Minister Rajnath Singh on Friday directed Delhi Police Commissioner Amulya Patnaik to take action in this case.

"A video of a man thrashing a woman (in Delhi's Tilak Nagar) has come to my notice. I have spoken to Delhi Police Commissioner and have told him to take relevant action," Mr Rajnath Singh tweeted.

The video capturing the brutality has gone viral. The man identified as Rohit Tomar is the son of a Delhi Police officer.

Delhi Police has registered a case against Tomar after a complaint by the victim in Tilak Nagar Police station.

The accused was arrested by the police under appropriate sections of IPC.

New Delhi, Jan 21 (UNI) Terming the claims by the Indian Journalists' Association (Europe), at an event held in London, that the 2014 Lok Sabha polls as well as the 2018 five-state polls were rigged, as a validation of its doubts on the working of the EVMs, the Congress on Monday demanded that at least 50 per cent of the VVPATs should be verified with the paper trails.
