Rajini's next flick titled 'Kaala Karikalan', to go on floors on May 28

Chennai, May 25 (UNI) Following the mega success of their gangster drama 'Kabali', Tamil Superstar Rajinikanth and director Pa Ranjith have once again teamed up for the actor's next film.
The new film, to be produced by Wunderbar Films of his son-in-law and actor Dhanush, has been titled 'Kaala Karikalan'.
It was also tipped to be a gangster flick and sequel to his earlier film 'Kabali'.
The shooting is expected to go on the floors on May 28 at Mumbai.
The movie stars Bollywood actress Huma Qureshi opposite Rajinikanth.
Music would be scored by Santosh Narayanan.
The remaining cast and crew would be announced soon.
Today morning, Dhanush revealed the title in his Twitter account which later started to trend.
When asked about the title, Ranjith said the movie has a lot of significance to Tamil culture and carries great valour.
Karikaalan was a Chola king from the Sangam era and was attributed to have accomplished mighty feats, including the construction of the Kallanai dam over river Cauvery.
Ranjith also explained that Karikaalan was still worshipped as a demigod among a group of people in Mumbai.
'Since the movie is based on Tamils living in Mumbai, the director has opted for this title', he added.
Initially, reports suggested that the movie was about the life of an underworld Mumbai don, Haji Mastan Mirza, whose foster son issued a legal notice to Rajinikanth.
Sundar Shaekhar, who claims that he was an adopted son of Haji Mastan Mirza, had asked the actor not to depict the role of his father as a smuggler and an underworld don in the movie.
However, the makers of the movie denied such reports and clarified that the story has no resemblance to the life of Haji Mastan Mirza.
