Jaipur, Nov 13 (UNI) Sitting National People's Party (NPP) legislator Navin Pilania joined the Bahujan Samaj Party (BSP) here on Tuesday.
Mr Pilania, who represents Amer constituency of Jaipur district in the present 14th House of the state assembly, joined the Mayawati-led party in the presence of the state unit in-charge former MP Munquad Ali and other leaders.
Mr Pilania had contested his maiden election from Amer on a BJP ticket in 2008 but was defeated by Ganga Sahai of the Congress.
His father, a former Director General of Rajasthan police, Gyan Prakash Pilania was also a BJP member to the Rajya Sabha between 2004 and 2014.
However, later on denial for a BJP ticket for assembly polls in 2013, Junior Pilania had joined NPP state unit that was headed by estranged BJP leader Kirodi Lal Meena.
The NPP then fielded him from Amer in 2013 and he won.
Later, Mr Meena too returned to the saffron party's fold and now is a Rajya Sabha member from the state.
