Raising one nation one election attempt to divert attention from real issues: Cong

New Delhi, Jun 19 (UNI) Reacting to the NDA Government pitch for the issue of ‘One Nation One Election’, the Congress on Wednesday said that the BJP raising the issue was an attempt to divert attention of people from real issues.

Talking to reporters here, AICC spokesperson Gaurab Gogoi said,’’the Prime Minister and the government raising issue of 'One nation one election' is an attempt to divert attention from real issues. If he is serious on the issue he should bring a Constitutional amendment.’’

In this context, he pointed out that while on the one hand it talks of the issue of ‘One nation one election’, on the other it was holding elections to two Rajya Sabha seats in Gujarat on two separate dates. Similarly, it held elections to Himachal Pradesh and Gujarat assemblies on two separate dates.

He said that this showed that the government was itself not serious on the issue.

It is notable that the PM is holding a meeting with heads of all political parties to discuss the issue of ‘One Nation One Election.'
