Kabul, May 29 (UNI) Torrential rains and flooding have claimed the lives of 42 people and injured 45 others over the past month in Afghanistan, a spokesman for National Disaster Management Authority, Shafiullah Rahimi, said.
"Heavy rains and flooding have also destroyed 341 houses and nearly 20,000 acres of agricultural lands," a local television channel Tolonews quoted Rahimi as saying.
The natural disaster has covered 23 out of the country's 34 provinces, mostly Kandahar, Kunar, Khost, Badakhsan, Kapisa and Daikundi provinces, besides killing 13,000 heads of cattle, according to the source.
In the meantime, the meteorological department of Afghanistan has forecasted more rains with heavy wind and flooding over the next three days in parts of the war-torn country.
