Belagavi/Udupi, Karnataka Oct 22 (UNI) The rains continue to lash parts of North Karnataka for the third day consecutively on Tuesday, throwing normal life out of gear in many districts including Belagavi, Raichur, Shivamogga, Chikamagalur and Haveri.
Karnataka Meteorological Department has predicted heavy rain during next three days and a Red alert has been sounded in Coastal Karnataka and fishermen were warned against venturing into sea for fishing till October 24. The rain, under the influence of depression in Arabian sea, has breached many nallas and bridges and vehicular movement on NH 4 has become impossible as flood water was overflowing on the roads.
Due to heavy discharge from reservoirs of Maharashtra, the rivers including Krishna, Malaprabha, Ghataprabha, Naviluthirtha were flowing above danger mark and authorities have asked people to move to safer places.
