Chennai, May 1 (UNI) A fine half century by Suresh Raina,
a late thrust by Ravindra Jadeja and final flourish byskipper
M S Dhoni helped defending champions Chennai Super
Kings to score a healthy 179 for four in its final home match
against table toppers Delhi Capitals here tonight.
On a sluggish wicket, CSK's start was not that rosy as Shane
Watson faced nine balls but failed to score and holed out a
long hop straight to Axar Patel at midwicket fence.
But Raina, who is fine touch, cut and drove with panache as
the home team scored a mere 27 for one in the power play after
a quiet but tight start.
However, Raina and Faf Du Plessis blossomed with a 83-run stand
for the second wicket, before Jadeja and Dhoni gave the finishing
touches with a flurry of boundaries as CSK scored 77 in the last
five overs.
Dhoni and Rayudu added 34 in nine balls for the unbroken fifth
wicket to propel the total after Jadeja embellished the innings
with a 43-run stand with Dhoni for the fourth wicket in a mere
3.5 overs.
