Rain still eludes Kashmir, fresh weather warning issued by Met

Srinagar, Aug 6 (UNI) A fresh weather warning has been issued on Thursday evening for isolated rain, thundershowers and 30 km to 40 km gusty winds during the next 72 hours in the Kashmir valley, where earlier such warnings could not bring any relief due to deficit rainfall.
People continued to face hot and humid weather in the Kashmir valley, including summer capital, Srinagar, where intermittent power failure added to their sufferings. However, in majority areas people alleged shortage of drinking water while farmers could be seen watering their orchards and vegetable fields with the help of water motors.
A Met department spokesman this evening warned there could be isolated rain, thundershowers, lightening and 30 km to 40 km gusty winds the Kashmir valley and Jammu division during the next 72 hours till August 9. There is no such warning for Union Territory (UT) of Ladakh, he said. However, earlier warning issued by the Meteorological department from time to time went wrong as there was hardly any rain and mercury remained above normal.
