Rain disrupts drinking water supply to Tawang township and its surrounding areas

Itanagar, Sep 7 (UNI) The drinking water supply to Tawang township and its surrounding areas including Lemberdung, Changprong, and Nyukmadung, in Arunachal Pradesh was disrupted due to significant damage to the drop inlet headwork, located approximately two KM ahead of Bramadungchung Ani Gonpa, officials said.
According to Doge Kamduk, Assistant Engineer at the Public Health Engineering Department (PHED), the damage was caused by severe land erosion early Saturday morning following incessant heavy rainfall.
The erosion, which occurred near the concrete vertical bund at PTSO, washed away critical infrastructure, including the drop inlet and diversion structure responsible for the water supply to Tawang township and its neighboring areas.
