New Delhi, Feb 21 (UNI) Union Railway Minister Piyush Goyal on Wednesday announced that the cost of the railway examination fees will be refunded once the applicant appears for the examination.
Talking to mediapersons here, Mr Goyal said that the examination fees for exempted categories are Rs 250, which will be fully refunded once they appear in the exam.
For general categories’ fees is Rs 500, of which Rs 400 will be refunded after they appear in examination, he said.
“So the effective cost for the railway examination will be reinstated to the original cost, which was Rs 100 and for exempted categories zero”, the Minister said.
'Nearly 60 per cent of those who applied will appear for the exam. We are expecting serious people. That is why the fees have been introduced,' he added.
He also said there is no restriction on the language of a candidate's signature in railway recruitment examination.
Also people can write railway examination in 15 languages.
The Minister also said under ‘Operation Swaran,’ the railway board has decided to revamp all the railway coaches, both interior and outside.
“Starting from the lowest category, general compartments, third class coaches, we are going to do very planned manner across the railways”, the Minister said.
He said the revamp process, including the paint to be chosen, interior modification, implementing bio-toilets, will begin in two to three months.
The entire revamp process of coaches and train is expected to finish within three years.
“There is no budget restriction for this. Operation Swaran will cover all the trains and all the coaches, wherever the poor people is travelling will be our priority”, Mr Goyal added.
