Raigad woman duped of over 27 lakh rupees in online investment fraud

Raigad, Nov 10 (UNI) A woman from Maharashtra's Raigad district has lost nearly 27.96 lakh after falling victim to a fraudulent online investment scheme that promised unusually high returns, police confirmed on Monday.
A case has been registered and a detailed investigation launched under relevant sections of the Information Technology Act and the Indian Penal Code, the police said.
According to police officials, the fraud occurred between August 20 and October 20 in the Nanoor locality under the Mangaon police jurisdiction. The victim, identified as Sharda Thor, a resident of Nanoor situated along the Mumbai–Goa highway, was contacted by a caller who introduced himself as a representative of a firm called “Noma Wealth Management Limited.”
