New Delhi, Jan 18 (UNI) Congress leader and Wayanad MP Rahul Gandhi has urged the Food Processing Industry minister to consider setting up of a mega food park in his parliamentary constituency to augment agricultural income.
In a letter addressed to Food Processing Industry minister Harsimrat Kaur Badal, the Kerala MP suggested that "Given the immense potential for agri-processing industry in Wayanad parliamentary constituency, and the need to create opportunities to augment farm incomes in a geographically challenged terrain, the Ministry may consider the feasibility of setting up of a Mega Food Park."
The district is a major producer of cash crops such as coffee, pepper, turmeric, ginger and varieties of scented rice.
