New Delhi, Oct 16 (UNI) Slamming the Narendra Modi Government on the Global Hunger Index survey that ranked India 102 among 117 nations, former Congress president Rahul Gandhi on Wednesday said that the ranking reveals a colossal failure in government policy'.
In a tweet, Mr Gandhi said that the survey 'blows the lid off Prime Minister's hollow 'Sabka vikas' claim'.
Taking to twitter, the Congress leader said, "India’s Global Hunger Index ranking, falling steadily since 2014, has now crashed to 102/117. This ranking reveals a colossal failure in government policy and blows the lid off the PM’s hollow “sabka vikas” claim".
Taking a swipe at a section of media which, according to the opposition party, is praising the current dispensation, Rahul said that the Prime Minister's claim on 'sabka vikas' was 'parroted by Modia'.
According to the survey, India's position is the lowest ranking among other South Asian countries like Pakistan (94), Bangladesh (88), Nepal (73) and Sri Lanka (66).
While India's rank was 55 out of 76 countries in 2014, it was 100 out of 119 countries in 2017, and 103 out of 119 countries in 2018.
The survey has put India as one of the 45 countries where hunger causes 'serious crisis'.
