New Delhi, Sep 20 (UNI) Congress has conveyed its support and solidarity with environmentalist Prof GD Agrawal (Swamiji Gyan Swaroop Sanand), who has been on hunger strike in Kankhal-Haridwar, raising demands related to river Ganga, for the past three months.
In a letter sent to the agitating IIT professor-turned-saint, AICC chief Rahul Gandhi wrote "This I write to express solidarity with your demand for a law, for conserving the Ganga".
The letter, received at Mr Agrawal's ashram in Kankhal-Haridwar on Thursday, also recalled the initiative taken by the then Prime Minister Rajiv Gandhi for cleaning the holy river in 1986, by way of Ganga Action Plan (GAP).
