Srinagar, Aug 10 (UNI) Alleged killer of Kashmiri Pandit Rahul Bhat and woman artist Amreen Bhat is among three militants of Lashkar-e-Taiba’s shadow group believed to be trapped in an encounter underway in Budgam district of Jammu and Kashmir.
Police said one of the trapped militants is Lateef Rathar who is accused of several civilian killings including that of Rahul Bhat and Amreen Bhat.
The encounter broke out early Wednesday at Waterhail area of Budgam during a cordon and a search operation which was launched by a joint team of forces following an input about militant presence.
“3 terrorists of terror outfit LeT(TRF) including terrorist Lateef Rather trapped in ongoing encounter. Terrorist Lateef is involved in several civilian killings including Rahul Bhat & Amreen Bhat,” Additional Director General of Police, Vijay Kumar was quoted in a police tweet.
