Rafael review, RaGa plea to come up on Friday in apex court

Rafael review, RaGa plea to come up on Friday in apex court

New Delhi, May 6 (UNI) The Supreme Court on Monday deferred to May 10, Friday, hearing on review petitions against its clearance to the Centre on the multi-million Euro deal to buy Rafael fighter jets from France.
It ruled that the matter will be heard along with the contempt petition filed against Indian National Congress president Rahul Gandhi for his ' chowkidar chor hai' comment against Prime Minister Narendra Modi. Mr Gandhi had later asserted that his statement was an erroneous inference on the judgement of the highest court.
The Union of India had retorted that the review of the apex court ruling was sought on the basis of stolen documents revealing incomplete file notings.
Headed by Chief Justice of India Ranjan Gogoi and also comprising Justices Sanjay Kishan Kaul and K M Joseph, the bench said it was surprised that the two matters, which were tagged, got separated.
"We are perplexed. We won't say anything beyond this," the CJI-led bench said.
In the CJI courtroom, Arun Shourie, Prashant Bhushan and lawyers were present along with advocates who were remotely connected with the case.
The apex court expressed surprise as to how the Rafale review petition and Rahul Gandhi contempt petition got listed separately.
Now the matter would be heard by the Supreme Court on May 10, Friday at 2 pm.
