Questions from Kamal Nath and Scinida: Jaitley tables reply on GST, Noteban

New Delhi, Dec 14 (UNI) The Question Hour could not be taken up in the Lok Sabha for the third consecutive day, but amid the din and slogan shouting Speaker Sumitra Mahajan called up the names of two prominent lawmakers from the opposition bench but both were 'absent'.
The question No. 62 pertained to the Ministry of Finance on 'Effects of GST and Demonetisation on Economy' and the two questioners were Kamal Nath and Jyotiraditya Scindia - the two principal protagonists of recently held Madhya Pradesh elections.
The Chhindwara MP Nath has already been selected by the Congress party to be new Chief Minister of the state.
The Speaker Ms Mahajan, however, allowed the Finance Minister Arun Jaitley to table his reply.
The two Congress leaders wanted to know from the government whether the ban on high value currency notes in 2016 and the roll out of the GST in July 2017 have caused "real hard blows" to the economy.
In his reply tabled in the House, Mr Jaitley maintained that the government has "from time to time"
stated advantages to the Indian economy which accrued to demonetisation and introduction of GST.
"A growth rate of 25 percent has been achieved in the number of Income Tax Reforms filed with the IT department during financial year 2017-18," the Finance Minister said.
