Moscow, Apr 21 (UNI) Russian President Vladimir Putin on Wednesday warned against crossing the "red lines" and said that Moscow will define red lines in relations with other countries on its own in every individual case.
"Unfriendly actions against Moscow continue unabated and it looks like some countries have turned it into a new sport," Tass quoted Putin as saying.
In his annual State of the Nation Address to the Federal Assembly. he said, "Some countries have developed a very bad habit of taking digs at Russia whenever an opportunity arises, and most often without any reason at all. It looks like a new sport: who will manage to say something louder than the others."
Putin said Russia will define red lines in relations with countries.
"I have to say this. We have patience, responsibility, professionalism, confidence in ourselves and our rightness, as well as common sense when making any decision.
But, I hope that nobody would decide to cross the so-called red line in relations with Russia, and we will define those [red lines] on our own in every individual case."
Putin's remarks come amid a new round of tensions between Russia and the West, including new sanctions his country by the US.
He also said Moscow will find "asymmetrical" ways to defend its national interests if other nations refuse dialogue.
"We truly do not want to burn bridges, and want to have good relations with all members of the international community. But if someone perceives our goodwill as indifference or weakness, and is prepared to completely burn, or even blow up, those bridges, Russia's response will be asymmetrical, spespeedy and tough," he said, reports Sputnik news.
