Punjab VB nabs PSPCL JE for taking bribe

Chandigarh, Aug 14 (UNI) State Vigilance Bureau on Wednesday nabbed a Junior Engineer (JE) of Punjab State Power Corporation Limited (PSPCL) red-handed while accepting a bribe of Rs 17,000.

Disclosing this, an official spokesman for the Vigilance Bureau said Ram Singh JE posted at PSPCL Sub-division East Tank, near Mohindra College, Patiala has been nabbed red-handed on the complaint of Devinder Singh, resident of Feelkhana Road, Patiala.

The complainant had approached the VB and alleged that the JE in question was demanding Rs 30,000 for not disclosing excess load at his shop and for withholding this report to the PSPCL the deal was struck at Rs. 25000. He further informed that he had already paid Rs. 8,000 as first installment.

After verifying his information, a Vigilance team laid a trap and the accused JE was arrested on the spot while accepting a bribe of Rs. 17,000 from the complainant in the presence of two official witnesses.

He informed that a case under Prevention of Corruption Act has been registered against the accused at VB police station Patiala and further investigation was under progress.
