Punjab tightens border security after Delhi blast; Pathankot, Fazilka, Ferozepur fortified

Chandigarh, Nov 12 (UNI) A day after the explosion near Delhi’s Red Fort, security agencies in Punjab have gone on high alert, particularly in the state’s border regions adjoining Jammu and Pakistan. Police have deployed the Special Operations Group (SOG) and set up intensive vehicle checks across entry points and highways.
In Pathankot, which shares a sensitive frontier with both Jammu and Pakistan, police have virtually sealed the Madhopur entry gate linking the two states. Every vehicle is being stopped and examined, while SOG personnel equipped with modern weapons remain on continuous duty. Senior officials said security drills will continue until further notice.
SSP Diljinder Singh told reporters that multi-layered checkpoints have been created across the district. “We’re using high-definition surveillance cameras and AI-based monitoring tools to track movements and flag any suspicious activity. Patrol teams are also keeping watch on routes that usually see low traffic,” he said.
