Punjab registers record 1,063 fresh Covid cases, 23 deaths

Chandigarh, Aug 7 (UNI) Punjab on Friday registered record 1063 fresh Covid cases and 23 more deaths due to Novel Coronavirus, raising the infection tally to 21,930 and the casualty count to 539 in the state.
According to an official health bulletin, the deadly virus claimed nine lives in Ludhiana district, three each in Jalandhar and Amritsar, two each in Fatehgarh Sahib and SBS Nagar and one life each in Patiala, Sangrur, Kapurthala and Fazilka districts today.
It said that 296 fresh cases have been reported from Ludhiana district, 122 from Patiala, 77 from SAS Nagar, 70 from Jalandhar, 67 from Amritsar, 53 from Gurdaspur, 49 from Bathinda, 41 from Pathankot, 37 from Barnala, 32 each from Ropar and Sangrur, 29 from Tarn Taran, 26 each from Fatehgarh Sahib and Kapurthala, 19 from Faridkot, 16 from Fazilka, 15 from Mansa, 14 from Moga, 13 from Muktsar, 11 each from Hoshiarpur and SBS Nagar and seven new cases from Ferozepur district.
