Punjab registers five more COVID-19 deaths, 234 new cases

Chandigarh, Jul 9 (UNI) Punjab recorded five more COVID-19 fatalities and 234 fresh cases on Thursday, taking the death toll to 183 and the infection tally to 7,140 in the state.
According to an official bulletin, the lethal virus claimed one life each in Ludhiana, Gurdaspur, Amritsar, Kapurthala and Sangrur districts.
Of the fresh cases, 57 have been reported from Ludhiana district, 42 from Patiala, 34 from Jalandhar, 16 from Sangrur, 14 from Amritsar, ten from SAS Nagar, nine each from Ferozepur and Tarn Taran, eight from Fatehgarh Sahib, seven from Gurdaspur, five from Kapurthala, four from SBS Nagar, three each from Ropar, Moga, Muktsar and Hoshiarpur, two each from Faridkot, Pathankot and Mansa and one new case from Bathinda district.
