Punjab has debt of Rs 2.75 lakh crore: Manpreet Badal

Ludhiana, Oct 13 (UNI) Punjab Finance Minister Manpreet Singh Badal said that Punjab was currently indebted to the tune of Rs 2.75 lakh crore out of which Rs 2 lakh crore was left by the previous SAD-BJP government.

However, the Congress-led Punjab government has significantly improved the financial condition of the state and now the pace of debt has slowed down, the Minister said while addressing a press conference after meetings with industrialists at a private hotel here.
The Minister claimed that the Congress party government had significantly improved the economic condition of the state. He admitted that this time the state has a debt of Rs 2.75 lakh crore. But the debt burden on the state has slowed down and they have not taken any overdraft in recent years. At the end of the SAD-BJP government, the state had a debt of Rs two lakh crore.

He said that the problems faced by the industries including VAT refunds and other issues would be resolved soon.
During the meeting with the industrialists, Mr Manpreet Singh Badal listened to the various issues raised by the industrialists and asked them to submit their demand papers.
