Chandigarh, Sep 11 (UNI) Action has so far been taken in 272 of the 346 complaints allowed so far by the Justice (Retd) Mehtab Singh Gill Commission investigating the false cases registered under the previous regime.
This was stated by Justice (Retd) Gill after submitting the 10th interim report to Punjab Chief Minister Capt Amarinder Singh here on Tuesday evening.
Giving details of the action taken, Justice (Retd) Gill said FIRs had been filed in the courts in 162 cases, while compliance of orders had been reported in 38. In another 33 cases, proceedings had been initiated under section 182 IPC, and action had been taken against erring police officials in 10 cases. Compensation had so far been awarded in 29 cases, as per feedback received from the Nodal Officers.
