Punjab govt. cracks down on power theft: 38 employees terminated

Chandigarh, Sep 10 (UNI) The Punjab Government has intensified its crusade against power theft, registering 296 FIRs at Anti Power Theft Police Stations across the state in August alone. Additionally, 38 employees have been terminated for allegedly engaging in corrupt practices.
Punjab Power Minister Harbhajan Singh ETO disclosed this in a press communiqué issued here on Tuesday. “To curb revenue losses, regular checks and raids are being conducted statewide, leading to the registration of 90 FIRs in Patiala Zone, 79 in Amritsar Zone, 71 in Bathinda Zone, 29 in Ludhiana Zone and 27 in Jalandhar Zone”, he said.
Emphasising that the FIRs were filed in line with the Punjab Government's zero-tolerance policy against graft, he said 37 outsourced metre-readers and one supervisor have been terminated for corrupt practices during the last two months.

UP govt turns stubble into an energy resource

Lucknow, Oct 3 (UNI) Stubble, a major source of pollution in the National Capital Region (NCR) during October and November due to widespread burning, has been transformed into an efficient energy resource and natural fertiliser by the Uttar Pradesh government, official sources said here on Thursday
A source said that this transformation not only addresses environmental concerns but also boosts farmers' incomes. Through the use of CBG (Compressed Bio Gas) plants, stubble is converted into energy and high-quality compost, turning waste into wealth.
