Punjab Floods: MLA Sukhpal Singh Khaira demands judicial probe into AAP Govt's "mismanagement

Chandigarh Sep 14 (UNI) Congress MLA Sukhpal Singh Khaira today alleged that the "negligence" of Chief Minister Bhagwant Mann’s Aam Aadmi Party (AAP) government was responsible for the devastation caused by the severe floods in Punjab and demanded a judicial inquiry into the "mismanagement".
Khaira, standing in solidarity with affected farmers and families, described the disaster as preventable, citing the government’s failure to manage water levels at key dams.
According to Khaira, the crisis began when water levels at Ranjit Sagar Dam exceeded 523 metres on August 22–23, with no preventive releases ordered. By August 24, inflows reached 2,36,599 cusecs, but only 500 cusecs were released, leading to dangerous accumulation.
