Punjab CM launches project to stop flooding of border outposts

Chandigarh, Oct 9 (UNI) Punjab Chief Minister Bhagwant Singh Mann on Wednesday cleared a project to protect offer flood protection to border outposts (BOPs) along international border fencing at a cost Rs 176.29 crores.

Chairing a meeting of the State Flood Control Board, Mann said that the state government has been repeatedly getting requests from the Border Security Force and the Army to protect BOP’s along the international border.

Chandigarh, Nov 10 (UNI) Alarmed by the rising number of road accidents in Haryana, the state’s Director General of Police (DGP) Shatrujeet Kapur has ordered a state-wide campaign against reckless and drunken driving, calling the spate of crashes a “human-created calamity.”
According to police data, more than 4,000 people have lost their lives in traffic mishaps between January and October this year, five times higher than deaths from violent crimes.
