Punjab: 38th Surjit Hockey Tournament kicks off at the Katoch Stadium

Jalandhar, Oct 23 (UNI) The prestigious Surjit Hockey Tournament kicked off on Saturday at the Vajra Corps Katoch Stadium in Jalandhar cantonment.
In the opening match of the tournament which was played between Punjab Police and RCF. Penalty corners were earned by both the teams in the first quarter, however, both the teams failed to convert them. It was the pass pushed to Ramandeep Singh through Simranjit Singh, who managed to put the ball into the net to give Punjab Police a 1-0 lead in the second quarter.
RCF wasted two penalty corners in the second half, and later wasted three more penalty corners in the third quarter of the match. Both the teams missed several chances to make a dint in each other’s goal. The match was finally won by Punjab Police 1-0.
