Puducherry govt declares national holiday on Oct 28

Puducherry, Oct 22 (UNI)The Puducherry administration announced October 28, Monday, the next day to Diwali festival as a public holiday in the Union Territory on the lines of Tamil Nadu government.
Chief Minister V Narayanasamy told news persons here on Tuesday that this arrangement was to enable the people to celebrate Diwali without any trouble. November 9, Saturday would be a working day to compensate the holiday, he said adding that the chief secretary was advised in this regard and the government order would soon be issued.
Thanking the people of Kamaraj Nagar assembly constituency which went to by-poll yesterday, Narayanasamy claimed that the congress party candidate John Kumar will win the polls. He said there was a decline of polling percentage by 4.5 per cent in the by-poll compared to the last assembly elections adding that this is due to the incessant rainfall here yesterday.
