Public holiday declared on May 12 as part of Assembly Elections

Bengaluru, May 4 (UNI) The Karnataka government has declared a public holiday for state and central government offices in the state, besides all school and colleges and other organisations including aided institutions on May 12, when the state will go for the Assembly elections.
A government notification as per the Governor Vajubhai Vala’s orders today said emergency services will operate as usual.
The notification said all state government officials deployed for poll work should attend their work without fail and ensure smooth and peaceful conduct of polling.
In case polling booths are set up in government schools and offices, the employees of such institutions would get a holiday on May 11 as preparation work will be carried out in such places a day before the polls.
On May 15 when counting of votes will be taken up and a day’s holiday is declared only for the employees who work in such counting centers, the official release said here on Friday.
