Provisions of 73rd Amendment Act will be implemented in J&K: Joshi

Jammu, Jan 24 (UNI) Union Minister for Parliamentary Affairs, Coal and Mines, Prahlad Joshi on Friday said that Provisions of 73rd Amendment Act will be implemented in J&K at the earliest.

“For strengthening democracy at grass root level, as many as 29 Government services are being brought under PRIs,” the Minister said while listening to people's issues as part of Centre Government's public outreach programme at Kotranka in Rajouri district of Jammu and Kashmir.

He added that first ever BDC elections held in J&K shall ensure proper utilization of funds for the execution of various developmental projects through PRIs, which have been conferred the powers to formulate developmental plans of their areas.

“All the provisions of 73rd Amendment Act will be implemented in J&K at the earliest,” he said and asked the BDC chairpersons, sarpanchs and panchs to understand their roles in ensuring proper development of their areas.

The Minister highlighted achievements and development recorded in the UT of J&K under various central schemes and development projects and said Central Government is for the equitable development of all the areas of the country, without any discrimination.

“Our focus is on providing best services in health, education, transport and other core sectors,” he said and elaborated the measures being taken in this regard.

“To improve the health scenario of the UT, the Government has sanctioned two AIIMS, the establishment of which will reduce the inconvenience of the patients to a great extent, who have to presently visit Delhi AIIMS for receiving treatment,” he added.

Mr Prahlad said that 8721 students of JK got a chance to move out of the UT last year, and visited several places of the country under 'Watan Ko Jano' Scheme.

He informed that this year the Government has decided to take about 5000 students of J&K on exposure tour across the country.

He also informed that after its reorganization, legislations like Right to Education Act, provision of Maintenance and Welfare of Senior Citizens and several other pro-people Acts and rules have been extended to UT of Jammu and Kashmir.

MP Govt inks health deal with Tata

Bhopal, Feb 26 (UNI) The Madhya Pradesh Government inked a memorandum of understanding on Wednesday with Tata Trusts vis-a-vis the latter’s extending technical-cum-managerial support for 115 identified health and wellness centres to be set up in four years within 23 high-priority districts, it was officially learnt.
The Trusts will extend cooperation for 500 more such facilities at a later stage. The agreement was signed at Mantralaya – in the presence of Chief Minister Kamal Nath and Health Minister Tulsiram Silawat – by Chief Secretary SR Mohanty and Tata Trusts Vice President Vijay Singh.

SAD demands sacking of Health minister Balbir Sidhu for buprenorphine tablet scam
