Prohibitory Orders Imposed in Jalna, Ambad Over Dhangar Agitation; Heavy Police Deployment

Jalna, Jan 17 (UNI) Prohibitory orders have been issued in Jalna district following an agitation by the Dhangar community demanding their inclusion in the Scheduled Tribes (ST) category, an official said on Saturday.
District Collector Ashima Mittal issued the orders under Section 163 of the Bharatiya Nagarik Suraksha Sanhita (BNSS), citing concerns over public safety and the possibility of unrest. The restrictions will remain in force from 5 am till midnight on Sunday in Jalna and Ambad tehsils, which are considered epicentres of reservation-related protests.
Under the prohibitory orders, gatherings of more than five persons and the carrying of arms have been banned. All shops, business establishments and educational institutions have also been directed to remain closed during the restriction period. Heavy police deployment has been put in place to prevent any untoward incidents.
