Prohibitory orders clamped  in Thalassery, New Mahe police station limits

Kannur, Jan 6 (UNI) District Collector Mir Muhammed Ali has clamped prohibitory orders under section 144 of CrPC, in Thalassery and New Mahe police station limits till midnight of January 7
The Prohibitory order has been clamped in the wake of political clashes reported on Saturday in and around Thalassery, even after a peace meeting was held and leaders participating in it agreed for maintaining truce.
Tense situation prevailed in Thalassery and nearby areas following the series of attacks including bomb attacks on the houses of political leaders since January 3 in the wake of two women, between the age group 10-50 entering Ayyappa temple in Sabarimala.
On Saturday night, the house of Thalassery Yuva Morcha Mandalam President K M Rithil at Vavachi Mukku came under bomb attack alleged by CPI(M) workers around 2350 hrs which led to the damage of some window panes. However, no causality has been reported.
In another incident, two CPI(M) women activists were injured and the vehicle of BJP leader was damaged following pelting stones against the DYFI demonstration march alleged by BJP workers, following the damaging of BJP flag post.
Mr Ali called a bilateral peace meeting of CPI(M) and BJP/RSS district leaders, in the wake of series of violence in this district. The meeting decided that both parties would not hold any demonstrations up to January 7, to ensure peace.
CPI(M) district secretary P Jayarajan , BJP district president P Sathya Prakash and RSS district leader K Pramod, District Police Chief G Siva Vikram also attended the meeting and jointly decided to abstain from any provocations.
