Process of filing nomination for urban body polls in Chhattisgarh concludes

Raipur, Dec 06 (UNI) The process of filing nomination for local body elections in Chhattisgarh concluded on Friday.
Today was the last date of filing nomination papers for urban body elections.
Due to last date, all district collector offices witnessed crowd of corporator candidates and their
supporters since morning. The crowd mostly included corporator candidates of BJP and Congress.
The nomination process was conducted between 10 am and 3 pm. With this, the process of nomination filing has been completed. After this, the nomination papers will be scrutinized tomorrow (December 7) and candidates will be able to withdraw their names from the election by December 9.
Polling for the urban body elections will be held on December 21, while the counting of votes will be
held on December 24. The result would be announced on December 24.
Total, a total of 151 civic bodies, including 10 municipal corporations, 38 municipal councils and 103 nagar panchayats in the state will go to election. About 40 lakh voters in the state will exercise their
franchise and elect corporators in total 2,840 wards.

Swati Singh was en route to an anganwadi centre with her paternal grandmother when the accident occurred and the child succumbed while being rushed to the Tansar health centre.
