Priyanka, Mayawati question L&O in UP

Lucknow, Jun 20 (UNI) Congress General Secretary incharge of UP East, Priyanka Gandhi Vadra on Thursday attacked chief minister Yogi Adityanath on law and order front and claimed that the members of fairer sex have been pushed to live in a atmosphere of `fear’ in the State.

In her tweet on Thursday, Priyanka while targeting chief minister Yogi Adityanath for his failure to check crime, said that innocent minors were subjected to indigence in Uttar Pradesh while women have been pushed to live in `fear’ and under terror of falling prey to sexual abuse. She claimed that even men were torched alive in the State but those enjoying power had preferred to keep their eyes closed towards all such atrocities.

She questioned that when will the Uttar Pradesh government would start taking responsibility of saving

the modesty of girls and women and when will they extend a `fearless’ society to everyone.

In her tweet, Priyanka also posted detail of incidents in June in which she highlighted the killing of first woman chairperson of Uttar Pradesh Bar Council, burning alive of a BDC member in Aligarh, rape and killing of a toddler in Aligarh, rape and murder of 7-year-old girl in Gorakhpur, gangrape of a woman after taking her husband at gun point in Rampur, rape of a 8-year-old girl in Bareilly, and that how a woman was forced to take several round of a police station in Badaun but still her FIR of gang rape has been not registered.

Meanwhile, Bahujan Samaj Party chief Mayawati in her tweet on Thursday had criticised the BJP-led states of orchestrating attack on members of dalit community. ``Caste based atrocities and killing have been rampant in Gujarat”, tweeted Mayawati claiming that despite of demand of security, a dalit identified as Manji Solanki, a co-sarpanch in Bataud district of Gujarat was murdered due to hatred towards the members of the community.

She said that such cases are more rampant in BJP ruled states which is a matter of sorrow as well as of serious concern. She also condemned the attack and demanded security for the dalits and downtrodden section of the society.
