Prithviraj Chavan targets BJP-led Mah Govt on emergency load shedding

Jalna, Oct 6 (UNI) Former chief minister of Maharashtra and senior Congress leader, Prithviraj Chavan, on Friday alleged that the BJP-Shiv Sena-led state government was responsible for ongoing undeclared emergency load-shedding across the state due to the mismanagement of coal storage for thermal power stations.
He was in city to interact with city-based traders, farmers and discussed various burning issues including that of farm loan waiver scheme and issues about implementation of GST, among others.
Later, talking to reporters, he said that due to undeclared emergency load shedding of up to nine hours per day in rural pockets of the state, the farmers as well as industries were in trouble and facing hardship.
"Mismanagement of coal stock is the main reason behind it," he claimed.
Mr Chavan accused Chief Minister Devendra Fadnavis of not being serious about the farm loan waiver scheme and claimed that farmers have not benefited from the scheme so far, despite its announcement in June, due to a number of oppressive terms and conditions in filling of online forms.
In his verbal attack on Shiv Sena, he accused it of resorting to double standards by showing the people that they were fighting against the government for the cause of farmers while in power.
The Congress leader alleged that the Sena ministers were keeping mum in the weekly cabinet meeting.
Mr Chavan demanded that the state government should allot the entire amount of Rs 34,000 crore to the farm loan waiver scheme for the benefit of 89 lakh farmers across the state.
Asked about his views on conduct of the Lok Sabha and assembly elections simultaneously in the state, the former chief minister replied that he had no problem with it.
