New Delhi, Jul 24 (UNI) There is no proposal to rename the post of Prime Minister as Pradhan Sewak or Prime Servant, the Prime Minister’s Office (PMO) has clarified. The clarification came in response to a query sought under the Right To Information Act, through which the PMO was asked to “Enclose all the paper records and documents which show that the present Prime Minister of India Narendra Modi is the Prime Servant of India and not the Prime Minister.” The RTI applicant also wanted the PMO to “Enclose all the copies of all such plans/proposals moved by central government for changing the official designation of the Prime Minister of India as the Prime Servant of India.” The PMO curtly responded, “There is no proposal to change the official designation of PM. Hence, the information sought does not form part of records held by this office.” This was one out of hundreds of questions posed to the PMO in recent past, especially after Mr Modi took charge as Prime Minister. The question might had been triggered by the announcement Mr Modi made in his first speech for the ramparts of the Red fort, in which he called himself the “pradhan sewak” of the people and not the “pradhan mantri”. Interestingly, many informations sought under the RTI from the PMO seemed to have emanated from the speeches Mr Modi delivered during his election rallies or remarks made by him after taking over office of the Prime Minster. Dozens of questions were posed about his personal life, interactions on Social Media such as Twitter and Facebook and also about the internet speed at which the Prime Minister’s office works. A gentleman asked, “what is the speed of internet connection used by our Honourable Prime Minster?” “The speed of internet access in PMO is 34 mbps,” was the straight response by the PMO. It was perhaps the easiest question, others were not so. It was also asked how many and which type of cylinders were being used in the kitchen of the Prime Minster. “It is stated that kitchen expenses of the Prime Minister is personal in nature and not incurred on government account,” said the PMO. Some of the interesting questions asked by the people of India under the RTI and response given by the PMO are as under: --Has the Prime Minster read Indian Constitution? Answer: Information sought does not fall under the definition of ‘information’ in terms of section 2(f) of the RTI act, 2005. --If the mobile number used by the PM can be asked under RTI, if yes, what is the number and can an ordinary citizen SMS his/her complaint on this number? Answer: The PMO has not provided any mobile phone to the Prime Minister. --What Iftaar parties did the PM attend in 2014 and 2015? Answer: The Prime Minister did not attend any of the Iftaar Party in 2014 and 2015. --How many leaves were applied by the Prime Minister from the date of occupying his office following the general election in 2014? Answer: Nil. --Are there any official working hours of Prime Minster in PMO, if yes please mention them. Answer: The Prime Minister can be said to be on duty all the time. --List of all bank accounts of Prime Minister’s Office. Last three months statement of above accounts. Answer: PMO is non-cheque DDO and no bank account is maintained by this office in this regard. As such information sought is not part of records, held by this office. And last, but not the least. -- Whether Mr Modi used to act in Ram Leela sometime in the past, if yes, what role he used to perform? Answer: Information sought is not part of record.
