New Delhi, Aug 14(UNI) President Ram Nath Kovind on Wednesday wished the people on the eve of Raksha Bandhan and said the festive occasion should encourage one and all to ensure 'safety and security' for women and girls.
'May this festival strengthen our society’s intent to protect the interest of women and promote their welfare. On this occasion, let us resolve to ensure that the women and girls of our country feel more safe and secure,” Mr Kovind said in a missive.
On the auspicious occasion of Raksha Bandhan, he extended his warm greetings and good wishes to all fellow citizens in India and abroad.
Mr Kovind said Raksha Bandhan is a celebration of the unique bond between brothers and sisters, adding that 'Tying of the Rakhi by sisters, symbolises love, affection and mutual trust between brothers and sisters.'
