President offers condolence over deaths in Idukki landslide

New Delhi, Aug 7 (UNI) President Ram Nath Kovind on Friday expressed sadness over the loss of many lives in a landslide in Idukki, Kerala killing several people.
"Sad to hear about the loss of lives due to a landslide in Rajamalai, Idukki (Kerala). Thoughts and prayers with the bereaved families; wishing the injured an early recovery," the President said in a message.
At least 13 people were killed and many others were missing when a mound of earth caved in on a row of houses of tea plantation workers in the high-range Idukki district on Friday as heavy rains pounded the area triggering a landslide.
