New Delhi, Feb 19 (UNI) President Ram Nath Kovind on Tuesday described as ``landmark achievement’’ of the Railways to eliminate unmanned level crossings on broad gauge network.
``This symbolises the zeal of Indian Railways to minimise accidents and make rail travel safe,’’ he said.
Addressing a group of probationers of different Railway Services who called on him at the Rashtrapati Bhavan here, Mr Kovind noted that the government had taken steps taken to modernise the Railways.
``Only a few days ago, the Prime Minister flagged off Vande Bharat Express between New Delhi and Varanasi which is true of the vision of `Make in India’. The major systems of the train have been designed and built in India,’’ he said.
Comparing different services in Railways to colours of a rainbow, he advised probationers to think of themselves as key player of `Team Railways’ placing interests of the service and people above everything else.
He expressed the confidence that probationers would further infuse the Railways with an innovative culture, modern technology and management practices to better serve the nation.
