President Droupadi Murmu to visit Odisha from February 28 to March 2

Bhubaneswar, Feb 22 (UNI) A high-level meeting chaired by Odisha Chief Secretary P K Jena on Thursday reviewed the preparedness and security arrangements during the four-day visit of President Droupadi Murmu beginning on February 28.
Official sources said the President will visit Rairangpur on February 28 to inaugurate and lay the foundation stones of several projects.
On February 29, Murmu will visit Maa Kichakeswari temple to offer prayer and then proceed to Keonjhar to inaugurate a national seminar at Dharanidhar College. The President will address the 53rd convocation of Utkal University in Bhubaneswar and stay the night at Raj Bhawan.
On March 1, Murmu will visit Berhampur to address the 25th convocation of Berhampur University. On the next day on March 2, the President will visit Sambalpur to attend several programs before leaving for New Delhi.
The Chief Secretary directed the concerned District Collector and Superintendent of Police to make necessary preparations for the visit of the President.
The meeting was attended by DGP Arun Kumar Sarangi, senior police and civil officials of the state besides the Collectors and the SPs of the districts to be visited by the President.

Mizoram excise officials seize about 1 kg raw opium near Myanmar border

Aizawl, Feb 12: In a major crackdown on drug smuggling, officials of the Mizoram Excise & Narcotics Department seized 945 grams of raw opium along the Indo-Myanmar border, a senior government spokesperson said on Wednesday.
The seizure was made on Tuesday evening at a location between Zote village in Champhai district and Bulfek village in Myanmar, department spokesperson Peter Zohmingthanga said.
