President calls for education for all

Allahabad, Dec 15 (UNI) President Ram Nath Kovind stressed the need to equip the coming generation with education for building the nation.
"We need to ensure that not one child is left behind in the education field,” said President here on Friday while speaking at convocation function of MNNIT engineering college.

The President stated that technical institutes should not only offer quality technical education to youngsters but also educate them on importance of good morals and sense of nationalism.
He said that while good technology is important for any country, it was important that the technically qualified youth are good human beings dedicated to the society and the people for a nation to truly progress and prosper.
He added that it was time for teachers and officials of technical institutions of the country to explore ways to attain this balance and introduce study of non-technical topics too for the budding techies that inspire them to work for the people and the country with dedication and roadwork.
The President further stated that citizens should come forward to help the less-privileged children get educated. He said that everyone was a stakeholder in the mission to become a “fully educated” society.
Mr Kovind also awarded gold medals to meritorious students. The medals included the institute's gold medal to Piyush Chandra Chaturvedi of BTech (mechanical engineering) final year for standing first amongst students of all branches of the institute final examinations 2017.
The President also awarded gold medals to Aman Sharma of BTech (mechanical) third year, Stuti Jain of BTech (Computer Science and Engineering) second year and Muskan Srivastava of BTech (Computer Science and Engineering) first year.
Eighty seven foreign students, including two post graduates, from countries like Nepal, Sri Lanka, Saudi Arabia and Bangladesh were among the 1441 recipients of degrees at the 14th convocation function of the Engineering institue.

The overseas students include 80 admitted through the Direct Admission of Students Abroad (DASA) scheme, three through the ministry of external affairs and two through Indian Council for Cultural Relations.

Earlier Mr Kovind paid glowing tributes to the freedom fighter, late Chandrashekhar Azad at Alfred Park on his arrival to the Sangam city.

Tomorrow, the President would visit the Sangam at 7.40 in the morning to perform the 'puja' at the Sangam Ghat. Thereafter, he will proceed to the Bade Hanuman temple to pay obeisance to Lord Hanuman and then return around 9.00 am. He would then proceed to attend the programme at the Allahabad High Court at 10.00 am. After the programme, he will board the special aircraft for New Delhi.
