Pregnant lady airlifted in flood-hit Kerala, delivers baby boy

New Delhi, Aug 17 (UNI) A pregnant lady who was stranded on the roof of her house in Alappuzha district was successfully and safely airlifted in nick of time by Indian Navy on Friday to the nearby hospital and delivered a baby boy.

On a distress call by the family to rescue the pregnant women, Indian Navy quickly swung into action and sent a helicopter to evacuate the lady.
A doctor was first lowered from the chopper to assess the condition of the woman, who was already in labour. She was then lifted and admitted to the Sanjivani multi-speciality hospital in Alappuzha district.

“A pregnant lady with water bag leaking has been airlifted and evacuated to Sanjivani. Doctor was lowered to assess the lady. Operation successful,' Indian Navy Spokesperson tweeted.
