Pre-monsoon rain and storm affects Tripura

Agartala, Jun 1 (UNI) Heavy pre-monsoon rain accompanied by high velocity storm
last night left the life of West Tripura and Sepahijala districts out of gear.
Besides, inundation in low lying areas of Agartala, power supply and traffic
movement have been affected due to uproot of trees.
According to report, more than 600 families in the districts were affected so far
while Chief Minister Biplab Kumar Deb reviewed the disaster management activities
and issued direction to the concern officials to extend relief to the victim families.
“The chief minister also sent social welfare minister Shantana Chakma to worst
affected Kamalasagar area of Sepahijala to review the situation. The officials of
power department and concern city and village administration were asked to
restore power and water supply and clear the roads,” said Revenue officials.
The services in banks and hospitals have been affected largely due to power
cut since last night. In most of the areas here have faced crisis of water supply.
The low-lying areas of the city have been inundated due to heavy showers.
However, meteorological department indicated more rains and storm in next
two days across the state.
The forecast also stated that formal entry of monsoon is scheduled to hit
Tripura by next five to seven days.
